Hsing Yi Chuan is a very old, "internal" art most often attributed to General Yueh Fuei, a famous Chinese military hero who died circa 1130 A.D, What is known about Hsing YI, is that it is one of the oldest and most famous systems of Kung Fu to ever come out of Chinese Culture. The skills of Hsing YI masters are legendary, and their kung fu powers is the subject of numerous tales and songs through out Chinese History.
(Tai Chi Chuan, Hsing-Yi Chuan and Pa Kua Chang) collectively known as the Wu Dang System. Believed by many to be the oldest of the Chinese martial arts, this art is the second of the three internal styles Like the other internal styles, mental focus and projection of energy is an essential part of the development of striking power in this art.
This art is very aggressive in appearance and performance. It is based on an ancient theory of the five elements or Wu-Hsing. The five elements- Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire are executed in a constructive and destructive cycle in the following manner.
Five Elemental Fists
The Five Elemental Fist(sometimes known as the Elemental Form) is the classic Hsing YI (Xing Yi) entry level form that presents the basic techniques of the style, including the techniques of the Five Elements. Each of the five elements is represented by a type of combination attacking technique.The five Elemental are (METAL,WATER, WOOD, FIRE, EARTH.)
The Five Elements correspond to five types of fighting power, and the Twelve Animals give Hsing YI its adaptability. Hsing YI (Xing Yi) incorporates the spirit of each animal to augment its techniques e.g. the dragon is powerful and fierce. The Hsing Yi (Xing Yi) practitioner enters the realm of the metaphysical by training his Chi to conscious thought through the Twelve Animals Form.
